About GeGee Hammond

Creative Writer

"I am a passionate, creative writer with a knack for storytelling. My work spans various genres, ensuring that each piece resonates with readers and captures their imagination."  - GeGee

GeGee Hammond, a pseudonym for Gwendolyn Soberay, was raised in Harbor City, California. A small, unincorporated city in Los Angeles County, California. She currently resides in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Her interest in books began in the third grade when her teacher distributed order forms for the Scholastic Book Club, marking the start of her lifelong love affair with books. One of the first books she ordered was a Cozy Mystery, where the ending was left open for the reader to find the clues and solve the crime. Her favorite author as a child was Mildred A. Wirt, the ghostwriter of the “Carolyn Keene” series, who authored twenty-three of the first thirty Nancy Drew mystery books. Furthermore, the novels were written for young adults in the Cozy Mystery genre, which Gwendolyn found to be one of her favorite genres. To encourage reading classics, Gwendolyn’s father enrolled her in a subscription to Reader’s Digest Classic Novels.

Gwendolyn’s first book will be a Contemporary Cozy Mystery. She is currently working on a novel, “The Reluctant Tenant,” where budding homicide detective Elizabeth Swayne and her partner, Terri Carr, a twenty-year veteran with a sketchy past, must solve the disappearance of a Canadian expatriate who holds answers to a fifteen-year-old cold case.

Gwendolyn is enrolled at Southern New Hampshire University, working towards her Bachelor’s Degree in Creative Writing and English with an emphasis in Fiction and a minor in American History from the Civil War era to the Civil Rights movement. When Gwendolyn isn’t juggling life, her daily job, attending school, family responsibilities, and caring for two border collies, Kelly and Bear, she is researching information for a historical fiction novel about American life after the Civil War, the Reconstruction Era, and the Emancipation Proclamation of 1863.
