"I am a passionate, creative writer with a knack for storytelling. My work spans various genres, ensuring that each piece resonates with readers and captures their imagination." - GeGee
GeGee Hammond, the pen name of Gwendolyn Soberay, is a California-born writer whose love for storytelling started in third grade with a Scholastic Book Club order form and a Cozy Mystery that encouraged her to solve the crime herself. That early spark ignited a lifelong passion for the genre, inspired by childhood favorites like Mildred A. Wirt, the ghostwriter behind the iconic Nancy Drew series.
Today, GeGee channels that same intrigue and warmth into her fiction.
She is currently developing a novel titled The Reluctant Tenant. It introduces readers to Elizabeth Swayne, a budding homicide detective, and her seasoned partner Terri Carr, as they unravel the disappearance of a Spanish expatriate tied to a fifteen-year-old cold case. Set in the Contemporary Cozy Mystery tradition, the story blends suspense with character-driven charm.
Gwendolyn is currently earning her Bachelor’s Degree in Creative Writing and English with a concentration in Fiction and a minor in American History at Southern New Hampshire University. When she’s not immersed in coursework or caring for her two border collies, she’s researching her next project—a historical fiction novel exploring American life after the Civil War, the Reconstruction Era, and the legacy of the Emancipation Proclamation.
